CHANDIGARH: The Friends of Punjab Foundation, a social organization working in Punjab for the last seven years, has appealed to the NRI community of Punjab settled abroad to become partners in the development of their native villages.
Bhupinder Singh Hundal, the founder of the Foundation and a US resident along with his functionaries Jagtar Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Piyush Naar and Sukh Hundal while addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club on Friday said apart from rural development foundation is also working for the upliftment of women and children.
He clarified that his organization does not take any kind of financial help and till now different development projects are being initiated in about 60 villages with the help of about 100 NRI families. The representatives of the Foundation said that in the coming days they would move forward with the aim of all round development by project themed 'Mera Pind 360' (All Round Human Development) dedicated to the teachings of Guru Nanak Devji.
He said monthly financial help for providing higher education to children, skill development like dress designing, dairy operation, beauty parlour, jute bag making, imparting of computer skills etc to women folks, apprising modern machines and techniques to small farmers, briefing government schemes like remote learning , tele health etc. are being done through his foundation
He has made a strong appeal to the NRI community settled abroad to play their part in the development here by connecting with their native villages, in which there is no government and private interference. All possible cooperation in this regard is borne by the foundation.
